China’s home textile product exports will steadily improve in 2021
In the past year, Chinese home textile export companies have seized development opportunities, the production and supply chain has remained safe and stable, and the export of home textile products has been steadily improving. In the new year, China’s home textile industry should actively cope with the many difficulties in declining comprehensive profits caused by production costs, international logistics, exchange rate fluctuations and other factors, accelerate transformation and upgrading, Move towards highquality development.
In 2021, China’s home textile product exports maintained rapid growth and achieved good results. Last year, home furnishing products remained the best-selling products in the European and American markets. Chinese home textile foreign trade companies seized this opportunity and improved export quality and quantity, with the export scale reaching a record high.
Last year, China’s exports of home textile products achieved growth mainly in two aspects. “On the one hand, the domestic epidemic prevention and control results have been remarkable, and the production and supply chain remains safe and stable; on the other hand, the global epidemic has changed people’s lifestyles.” said the relevant person in charge of the Home Textiles Branch of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles.
In 2021, the production capacity of China’s home textile industry will be fully released, the export of home textile products will operate at a high level, and the product structure will be further optimized. Data show that in 2021, China’s exports of home textile products were US$34.33 billion, an increase of 26.5% over the same period in 2020 and an increase of 22.2% over the same period in 2019. Judging from the monthly export situation, each month in the first half of 2021 maintained rapid growth year-on-year, with an increase of more than 20%. Since the second half of 2021, the monthly export growth has gradually slowed down and remained between 5% and 13%. In terms of export product structure, products with higher added value such as bedding, blankets, carpets and curtains led exports to achieve rapid growth. In 2021, the total exports of these four categories of commodities accounted for 77.7% of the total home textile exports, with growth rates of more than 26%. In addition, the export growth rate of towels, kitchen supplies and other products is relatively low, between 15% and 20%. In recent years, the proportion of product exports has shown a trend of declining year by year.
In terms of export markets, China’s home textile products have performed well in exports to the US and European markets. Data show that China’s exports of home textile products to all major global markets will maintain rapid growth in 2021. Among them, exports of home textile products to the United States were US$11.69 billion, a year-on-year increase of 30% and an increase of 33.9% over the same period in 2019; home textile products exported toEU market exports were US$4.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25.8%, and a year-on-year increase of 16.6%; the export growth of home textile products to the Japanese market was relatively slow, with exports of US$2.98 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.7 %, an increase of 6.4% compared with the same period in 2019. “Judging from the growth rate in the past two years, the U.S. market has obvious advantages, with continued growth in demand, and the EU market has recovered steadily. Although the Japanese market has the lowest growth rate, it has also changed the trend of continuous decline since 2016.” said the person in charge. From an intercontinental market perspective, North America, Latin America and ASEAN have led the demand recovery in the international home textile market since last year. Among them, China’s exports of home textile products to Latin America grew rapidly, with a year-on-year increase of 76%. Exports to North America and ASEAN grew rapidly, with an increase rate of more than 29%. Exports to Oceania, Africa and the Middle East grew relatively slowly, with an increase rate of 14%. Between %-20%.
Last year, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai and Guangdong ranked among the top five home textile export provinces and cities in the country, and their exports all maintained steady growth. Among them, Zhejiang and Shandong performed better, with growth rates higher than the national average, respectively. 27.5% and 29.1%, the export growth rates of Jiangsu, Shanghai and Guangdong are all lower than the national average. Exports from some central and western provinces and cities such as Sichuan, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Ningxia, Tibet, and Gansu have increased by more than double.
This year, with the recovery and expansion of production capacity in Southeast Asia and the United States, the contradictory trend of oversupply in the market will gradually emerge in the second half of the year. The above-mentioned person in charge believes that Chinese home textile export companies must take preventive measures in advance and accelerate resources Make a rational layout of globalization, actively explore the domestic market, and integrate into the new domestic and international “dual circulation” pattern.
