Awati County, Xinjiang: Millions of acres of machine-picked cotton have entered the harvest period
During this period, 1.46 million acres of cotton in Awati County have gradually entered the harvest period. At present, the cotton picking machines in the county are in place, and cotton farmers are taking advantage of the fine weather to actively harvest. There is a busy harvest scene in the fields.
On October 15, at the high-quality cotton base in Duolang Township, Awati County, accompanied by the sound of roaring machines, cotton picking machines were shuttling back and forth for cotton picking operations. Liu Qi is a major cotton grower in Duolang Township. This year, all his 380 acres of cotton are harvested mechanically, and a bumper harvest is expected.
Liu Qi, a villager in Huanggong Village, Duolang Township, Awati County, said: “The cotton picking machine is fast and efficient. It is expected that the cotton can be picked in two days, which provides a lot of convenience for us to increase our income.”
In recent years, Awati County has continuously improved the modernization, intelligentization, and informatization level of agricultural machinery operations, and promoted advanced agricultural equipment to provide cotton farmers with land preparation, sowing, plant protection, and harvesting. Full mechanized technical services promote the quality and efficiency of the cotton industry. This year, 193,000 acres of cotton are planted in Duolang Township, Awati County, of which 124,000 acres are harvested by machine. After preliminary mechanized operations and refined management, the cotton has been basically spun out and has entered the intense harvesting stage.
Dilihumar Ymir, member of the Party Committee and Propaganda Committee of Duolang Township, Awati County, said: “There are now 23 cotton picking machines operating in our area. At present, more than 1,000 acres have been harvested. What’s next? , we will also make every effort to ensure the supply of agricultural machinery personnel and materials, lay a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of the autumn harvest, and ensure bumper crops and bumper harvests for people of all ethnic groups.”
It is understood that Awati County, as a major cotton-producing county, has planted 1.46 million acres of cotton this year, including 530,000 acres of long-staple cotton and 930,000 acres of upland cotton. It has achieved full coverage of the machine-picked cotton model. At present, the harvesting work in the county is proceeding in an orderly manner.
