EU issues consumer warning on Chinese-made children’s suits
On January 29, 2016, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning on the Chinese-made “KEYIQI” brand children’s suits. The notifying country in this case is Hungary. The product notified this time is a children’s suit consisting of a top and pants. The top is a sweatshirt with a zipper and a hood. The hood has a long cord that can be stretched freely. The pants also have an adjustable drawcord at the waist. The product is decorated with butterflies and letters. Set sizes include: 134, 140, 152, 158 and 164. The style/model of the above product is: A-27. The product’s industry classification code (OECD Portal Category) is 67000000 (clothing).
The above-mentioned suits may cause injuries and suffocation risks to children. Drawstrings on tops, hats, and waistbands of pants may pose a risk of injury and suffocation when children are active. This product does not comply with the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, the Hungarian authorities have taken compulsory measures to withdraw from the market and recall the above-mentioned products.
To this end, it is recommended that relevant domestic production and export enterprises attach great importance to this. EU issues consumer warning on Chinese-made children’s suits
