Half of the foreign investment companies in Myanmar are in the textile and shoe manufacturing industries
According to statistics from the Myanmar Investment Commission, 50% of the 138 foreign enterprises approved by the commission operate in the textile and shoemaking industries.
Of the 138 foreign companies, 30% operate in food, beverages, plastics, forestry products, decorations, etc., and 20% operate in hotels, construction, oil and natural gas, etc. From April to December 2015, foreign companies’ cumulative investment in Myanmar reached US$4.9 billion. In February 2016, the most employed positions in Myanmar were salespersons, accountants, engineers, computer technicians, etc. Half of the foreign investment companies in Myanmar are in the textile and shoe manufacturing industries
