EU issues consumer warning on Chinese-made girls’ trousers
On March 25, 2016, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning on Chinese-made “Sindy” brand girls’ trousers. The notifying country in this case is Hungary. The product notified this time is girls’ casual pants. The waist of the pants has a freely adjustable drawstring, and there are also two drawstrings on the legs of the pants. The girls’ trousers come in white, purple and gray. Product sizes are 8/122/128, 10/134/140 and 12/146/152. The style/model number of this product is: 1820278; the barcode is 3870166979277. The above-mentioned products have an industry classification code of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD Portal Category) of 67000000 (clothing).
The above-mentioned girls’ trousers can easily cause injury to children. The freely adjustable drawstrings at the waist of the pants can easily trap children during activities, posing a risk of injury. This product does not comply with the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, the Hungarian authorities have taken compulsory measures to withdraw from the market and recall the above-mentioned products.
