Analysis of home textile exports: The rebound trend continues and a slight increase comes true

According to customs statistics, in April 2016, my country’s home textile exports continued the rebound trend in March and achieved a slight increase.
In April, my country’s exports of household textile products were US$3.309 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.53%. Among them, exports to the United States, the European Union, and Japan were US$1.668 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 6.44%; exports to other markets were US$1.748 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%.
From January to April, the cumulative exports of home textile products were US$11.63 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.74%. Among them, the export quantity increased by 2.06%, and the export price decreased by 5.69%. The decline in export volume further narrowed, and the decline in export prices was the main reason for the decrease in export volume.
Exports to the United States declined rapidly
my country’s home textile exports to the United States in April this year were US$745 million, a year-on-year decrease of 12.34%, which also brought the year-on-year decrease in exports to the United States from January to April to 7.42% (export quantity decreased by 1.31%, and export prices decreased by 6.2%). %), which is significantly lower than the average export growth rate, dragging down the recovery of the overall home textile export market.
Since 2016, the U.S. economic growth has slowed down, demand for textile imports has been sluggish, and the U.S. dollar exchange rate has strengthened. In the first four months of this year, U.S. imports of textiles and clothing from the world fell by 3.29% year-on-year, of which the import volume of non-clothing products fell by 2.39%, and the import value down 5.01%.
Exports to the EU continue to grow
On the basis of a year-on-year increase of 55.12% in March 2016, my country’s home textile exports to the EU in April were US$556 million, a year-on-year increase of 9.84%. From January to April, exports to the EU were US$1.978 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.25%, an increase of 7.64 percentage points compared with the same period in 2015, and the growth momentum is improving.
Exports to Japan return to negative value
In March 2016, my country’s home textile exports to the Japanese market rebounded, but the good times did not last long. Exports to Japan in April were US$260 million, a year-on-year decrease of 16.79%, causing the growth rate from January to April to return to negative values, and the cumulative export volume decreased by 4.22% year-on-year.
Exports to ASEAN declined
my country’s home textile exports to the 10 ASEAN countries in April were US$376 million, a year-on-year increase of 24.48%. From January to April, exports to ASEAN were US$1.249 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 1.15%, and the growth rate was 10.39 percentage points lower than the 9.24% in the same period in 2015. After several consecutive years of high growth to ASEAN, the growth rate of my country’s home textile exports has declined.
The decline in exports to 17 Middle Eastern countries further narrowed
To the 17 countries in the Middle East, my country’s home textile exports totaled US$992 million from January to April this year, a year-on-year decrease of 8.89%, and the export decline further narrowed. In the first two months of this year, exports to 17 countries in the Middle East fell by 25.08% year-on-year, and achieved rapid growth in March and April. Among them, the export volume in March increased by 39.94% year-on-year, and the export volume in April increased by 8.36% year-on-year.
Exports to the three South Asian countries are growing well
From January to April, my country’s home textile exports to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries were US$465 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.93%, of which exports in April were US$120 million, a year-on-year increase of 19.82%. The current growth is based on the high growth of 25.89% in the first four months of 2015, and exports to the three South Asian countries show a good momentum of development.
Exports to Russia rebounded slightly
my country’s home textile exports to Russia in April this year were US$67 million, a year-on-year increase of 16.65%. From January to April, exports to Russia increased by 4.5% year-on-year. The Russian market shrunk significantly in 2015 and is now recovering slightly. There is still a long way to go before normal market demand.
The export prices of major categories of products have dropped significantly
From January to April, among the exports of major categories of home textile products in my country, towels increased by 7.64% year-on-year, while other major categories of products experienced varying degrees of decline. The decline in export prices was the main reason for the decrease in exports. Except for towels, which increased by 0.39% year-on-year, export prices of other products have significantly declined. Except for the year-on-year decrease in exports of blankets and kitchen textiles, other major categories of products increased year-on-year.
