Pakistan’s apparel and textile exports decline
According to Pakistan’s “Dawn” report on September 22, despite having obtained tariff-free treatment for exports to the EU, Pakistan’s clothing and textile exports still declined. Data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday showed that Pakistan’s clothing and textile exports from July to August were US$2.07 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.64%. According to reports, although the five-year textile policy that took effect in July 2015 includes incentive policies for high value-added products, it has had little effect on promoting exports of ready-made garments. From a positive perspective, tents, canvas and canvas, which accounted for a small proportion of exports, achieved a year-on-year growth of 82.55%, and the export of textile raw materials also increased significantly.
