EU issues consumer warning on Chinese-made suits

On October 7, 2016, the European Commission’s Rapid Early Warning System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning (alert number: A12/1227/16) on Chinese-made “LegendaryRIDERSCAVALIERI” brand suits. The notifying country in this case is Cyprus. The product notified this time is a boy’s suit consisting of a blue sweatshirt and a pair of gray trousers. Suitable for children aged 3 years. The sweatshirt has a hood (with hood cord). The product style/model is 6267265.200.3A. The barcode is 5290561821601. The OECD industry classification code is 67000000 – Clothing.

The hood cords of the hoods of the above-mentioned clothing may become entangled during children’s activities, leading to the risk of strangulation or injury. This product does not comply with the requirements of the relevant European standard EN14682.

At present, the Cyprus authorities have taken measures to delist the above products.

To this end, it is recommended that relevant domestic production and export enterprises attach great importance to this.
