EU issues consumer warning on children’s pants made in China
On October 14, 2016, the European Commission’s Rapid Early Warning System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning (alert number: A12/1314/16) for Chinese-made “PPT” brand children’s pants. The notifying country in this case is Bulgaria. The products notified this time are children’s sports pants of different colors. The product styles/models are CodeV2016/V/F, BPTF15-2, art.№A00017968 and A00017967; CodeV2016/V/F, C62C17, articlenumberA0023748; CodeV2016/V/F, articlenumberA0021296. The barcodes are 6424970179605, 6424970237374 and 6424970212821. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development industry classification code (OECDPortalCategory) (OECDPortalCategory) is 67000000-Clothing (clothing).
The drawstrings at the waist of the above-mentioned sweatpants may cause injury to children. This product does not comply with the requirements of the EU Toy Safety Directive and related European standards EN14682.
At present, the Bulgarian authorities have taken measures to delist the above products.
