Rising cotton prices support strong yarn prices in Pakistan
In the week ending February 14, Pakistan’s cotton yarn export prices rose. The recovery in demand after China’s Spring Festival and the rise in Pakistan’s domestic cotton prices all supported the strengthening of Pakistan’s yarn prices.
Due to the excessive increase in raw material prices, Pakistani yarn mills are currently struggling to maintain their operations. Data show that due to extremely tight cotton supply and declining ginner inventory, cotton prices in Pakistan remained strong last week. The official spot benchmark price set by the Karachi Cotton Association is 7,180 rupees/maud (M1-1/16, 3.8-4.9) . The transaction price of main varieties is 5800-7125 rupees/maund.
