EU issues consumer warning on Chinese-made children’s sportswear sets
On November 3, 2017, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning (alert number: A12/1494/17) on Chinese-made “Georgio” brand children’s sportswear sets. The notifying country in this case is Cyprus. The product notified this time is a sportswear set suitable for children aged 6 years. The suit consists of a dark blue jacket and trousers. The jacket has a drawstring at the bottom edge with three-dimensional hard plastic trim. The style/model number of the product is 3450. Barcode unknown. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development industry classification code (OECD Portal Category) is 67000000 – Clothing.
The drawstrings on the lower edge of the above-mentioned jacket may get entangled during children’s various activities, posing a risk of injury to children. This product does not comply with the requirements of the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, retailers have taken delisting measures on the above products.
