Cotton sowing in Bachu County, Xinjiang is fully launched
At present, cotton land preparation and sowing are beginning one after another across the country. In a 20,000-acre cotton field in Bachu County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang, multiple tractors equipped with Beidou satellite navigation autonomous driving systems are leveling the land in the field and laying mulch film and drip irrigation belts.
In a large field in Bachu County, winter wheat is turning green one after another and growing well. In a cotton field next to it, a tractor equipped with the Beidou navigation automatic driving system is laying mulch. Before laying mulch and drip tape, the land needs to be leveled.
The Jilin-1 satellite discovered that a large tractor was plowing and harrowing the fields in Bachu County. The fresh soil turned out was dark brown, forming a clear color difference with the unleveled land. The traces of tractor plowing and harrowing outline an “abstract painting” in the field.
Judging from Jilin-1 satellite images, large tractors can be seen everywhere in the cotton fields of Bachu County working in the fields. This large tractor equipped with the Beidou satellite navigation system can complete tasks such as raking, fertilizing, leveling, laying film, sowing, and laying drip irrigation tapes all at once. Moreover, the broadcasting operation is straightforward and the operation efficiency is high, saving a lot of labor and costs.
At present, some cotton fields have completed the laying of mulch films. The mulch strips laid by large tractors equipped with Beidou satellite navigation system are clear and uniform.
The land is flat, the soil is fertile, the fields are square, connected by canals, can be irrigated during droughts, and can be drained during floods… So far, Bachu County has built a total of 400,000 acres of high-standard farmland, accounting for nearly a quarter of the county’s cultivated land area.
The latest survey results of the China Cotton Association show that the intended cotton planting area nationwide in 2022 is 43.176 million acres. In terms of regions, the planting area in the Yellow River Basin and the Yangtze River Basin has tended to be stable, and the intended area of Xinjiang cotton areas has increased by 2% year-on-year. All regions are increasing scientific and technological services to ensure the smooth progress of cotton sowing work.
