Xinjiang: Meteorological conditions are suitable and sowing progress is faster than last year
In the first half of April, the meteorological conditions in Xinjiang were basically stable. The temperature in the cotton area was higher than in previous years, which was suitable for sowing. The overall progress was fast. As of April 15, the sowing progress in Xinjiang was 72%, 24 percentage points faster than last year, of which the local sowing progress was 68% and the Xinjiang Corps’ progress was 79%. The temperature in southern Xinjiang is slightly higher than that in other cotton areas, so sowing began on April 1st, and in the northern cotton area on April 8th. At present, sowing has entered the peak period, and it is expected that sowing in Xinjiang will be completed on April 22. Due to the recent rapid rise in temperature, light and heat conditions are more favorable for agricultural production in Xinjiang. Some cotton fields sown in the early stage have already emerged. It is expected that most areas in Xinjiang can basically achieve seedling emergence in April and enter the seedling stage management. According to forecasts from the Meteorological Observatory, there will be heavy rainfall, strong winds and other severe weather in some areas in late April. It is hoped that cotton farmers everywhere can seize the favorable weather period to speed up the progress of cotton planting and avoid a recurrence.
